Government’s Golden Age of business is being vigorously pursued in Ashanti to promote investment and businesses in the Region, a Business, Investment and Tourism Secretariat (BITS) has been established at the Regional Co-ordinating Council (RCC) to provide data, information, advice and other assistance to prospective investors.  The preparation of this handbook is aimed at helping the investor obtain the right information about the region.

The RCC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with GTZ for the design, adoption and/implementation of local and regional economic development (LRED) in all the districts of Ashanti.  LRED concept and activities are aimed at initiating and enhancing economic development processes in the district of the region, in which economic opportunities are identifies and utilized by community stakeholders.  This will lead to a vibrant economic development process characterized by a clear and continuous interest between public and private sectors and civil society.  Thus it will also promote decentralization.

Again, Round Table Conference on promoting sustainable local and regional economic development in the region is to be organized under the auspices of the RCC, MMDAs in the region and GTZ for the adoption of a common strategy with the view to formulating scenarios, options and possible priorities for regional development initiatives.
