ASHANTI REGIONAL MINISTER HANDS OVER 13 COMPACTION TRUCKS TO 13 MMDA’s TOWARD THE SUSTAINABLE CLEANING, GREENING, AND BEAUTIFICATION OF ASHANTI PROJECT.

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei-Mensah on March 15, 2022 handed over 13 compaction trucks to 13 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assembles within Greater Kumasi and it environs in furtherance of the Sustainable Cleaning, Greening, and Beautification of Ashanti project.
The project which was launched on August 24, 2021 to drive environmental cleanliness and restore Kumasi to its pride as the Garden City of West Africa is in partnership with Zoomlion Ghana Ltd and it involves Tree planting and growing, Provision of Concrete Refuse Bins at Vantage Points, Distribution of Refuse Bins to Households, Collection of sand gathered on sides of roads, Wire meshing of road medians and other relevant areas, Evacuation of Heaps of Refuse Dumps, Painting of curbs, ceremonial roundabouts and Extensive education on bye-laws by Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies for enforcement.
Presenting the compactor trucks, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Simon Osei-Mensah noted that the trucks are part of resources promised by Zoomlion as a partner in the project. According to him, an important component of the project which involves cleaning, has been ineffective since after desilting various drains, the waste is deposited along the desilted drains which finds itself back into the drains after rain. With the compaction trucks, the Minister expressed the hope that cleaning will be more effective. He entreated the beneficiary MMDA’s to take good care of the truck to ensure longevity.
